Sleeping Disorders – Do they have one?

I was first introduced to the idea of sleeping disorders through a very good personal friend of mine that I had in the Marine Corps.

In his case his disorder was called narcolepsy and through following his circumstances I became familiar with what causes narcolepsy.

Don’t wait until you find someone face down on their desk to become familiar with the many types of sleeping problems.

Don’t forget about the protection of the ADA Law!

Remember they may be protected under the ADA Law and they don’t even know it.

The other side of this is that they may be a safety risk to themselves or others, so become familiar with the various types of sleeping disorders, such as what causes narcolepsy, and sleep apnia.

My guess is that you are already exposed to this problem if you are reading this article of mine.

Back to my friend and what causes narcolepsy.

In his case he would be walking along and almost collapse onto the ground. The period of sleep was so short that he would wake up prior to actually falling.

Unfortunately this was not always the case and often he would be hurt. He lost his privilege to drive any vehicle and became dependent on everyone else to help him, primarily his wife.

Remember I said we were Marines together and to see a strong man bow down to such an unfair disorder leaving him almost helpless was hard to take.

They ended up being able to isolate the cause of his narcolepsy to a particular part of the brain and with the right drugs he is able to lead a pretty normal life again.

But there are still times he may drift off quickly to sleep.

Good Luck and May God Bless You!
