Self Motivation Tips

I hope that these self motivation tips are helpful in your quest to achieve whatever goals you have set for yourself!

Setting goals is the first step in motivating yourself!

Whether it is simply to get out of bed on time in the morning, lose ten pounds, or climb Mount Everest, you must set a goal. Otherwise you are blindly moving in a direction and how in the world can you ever get motivated if you don't even know what you are trying to achieve.

Once you have a goal, then you can focus in on that goal and make a decision as to whether you are seriously going to try and accomplish it or just pretend you are. Kind of like a new years resolution, and who ever accomplishes those past the first week.

No, I'm talking about a real goal! Not some pie in the sky dream that you have no interest in or ability to do.

As an example if my goal was to lose weight and I decided that I was going to lose 200 pounds in a month, I am dreaming! On the other hand if I decided my goal was to lose 20 pounds in one month it is a little closer to reality.

So the next step is having realistic goals so that they are actually achievable. So that when you achieve them you are able to believe in yourself for the next goal. However, if you don't accomplish the ten pounds in a month you still need to focus on what you did instead of what you didn't accomplish.

Don't make it a mile if you haven't got the time!

If you have failed many times on trying to lose the weight you will need to start at a point that will work. Maybe it is a pound in one week!

Then as a part of that goal, make a secondary goal of walking a certain amount each day. Don't make it a mile if you haven't got the time or have never walked for a long time. You will just fail and give up the first day.

Habits come from keeping it simply stupid! The old KISS system of doing things! In other words don't set yourself up for failure.

Maybe you decide to walk around your block for a while. Maybe you decide to drink water instead of a soft drink. The point is set a goaland stick to it, but make sure it is realistic so you don't taste failure.

Get through Marine Corps Boot Camp in the top 10%

I was able to get through Marine Corps Boot Camp in the top 10% because I was focused on proving my Dad wrong. He had told me when I informed him I was joining the Marine Corps that he didn't think I would even make it through Boot Camp. Weill did prove him wrong and earned a stripe in the process. As it turned out he used that strategy to motivate me.

Do you have someone that you can focus on that if you accomplish your goal they will be excited for you! Or maybe you want to rub their nose in your victory. Either way it can be a huge motivator!

Don't ever look at yourself as a failure! Some of the most successful people failed over and over and over again before they became the leaders in their industries. Never sell yourself short!
