Quotes by Jesus – Jesus turns water into wine

There are many quotes by Jesus and a story behind each one. I would like to give you an opinion of at least one way to look at what it could represent when Jesus turned water into wine during the marriage in Cana of Galilee.

The story is found in John Chapter two versus one through ten.

Here is the story as it is found in the King James Version.

John 1.1 - And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:

John 1.2 – And both Jesus was called and his disciples, to the marriage.

John 1.3 – And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

John 1.4 – Jesus saith unto her, Woman what have I to do with thee? Mine hour is not yet come.

John 1.5 – His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

John 1.6 – And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

John 1.7 – Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

John 1.8 – And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.

John 1.9 – When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

John 1.10 – And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse; but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

Quotes by Jesus – the first miracle performed by Jesus!

There are many significant things that can be said about this first miracle that Jesus performed, but I would like to focus on just one for now.

That is that he took something as natural and normal as water and turned it into of course wine instantly. Even if we remove the idea that he did not add anything to the water and only focus on him changing the water into wine it is powerful!

A lot of people, including Christians, have a problem with comprehending that the earth may only be several thousand years old. Perhaps around six to ten thousand I believe based on the scriptures.

Most people base there opinion on what they are calling science. They believe that the earth may be several million to billions of years old. They say that the evidence suggests this because of the many layers within the earth, and of course many other signs.

Quotes by Jesus – how old is the earth?

Now to be honest I have a lot of problems with all of there evidence, but I will again refer back to just this story of Jesus turning water into wine as an example of what God can do.

I believe the evidence suggests just what the bible states and that is that God created our earth and everything on it in six days.

Again, the other side of the argument is that the earth has evidence of appearing much older.

I can simply say that Jesus' first miracle on earth was taking water and turning it into good wine. Good wine takes time to age properly. So he took something new and made it appear to be older that it was.

Quotes by Jesus – making something new that appears to be old!

Just refer back to John 1.10 where the governor of the feast even stated that the wine was good. Even better than the first wine that the bridegroom had served up. Based on tradition I am certain that the wine served first was also good.

Those believing that God could not make this earth in six days and it appear to be old, gives him no credit or limits His abilities. Jesus takes plain old water and turns it immediately into good wine. Not hard for me to grasp!

Thank you and May God Bless You!
