How to Build a Website

Since I began my website I am continually being asked how to build a website that will be successful?

I give them a very simple answer!

Before I give you that answer I will tell you my story, and how I made mine, which I hope you enjoy!

Just like you when I began I had no clue of what it took to make a successful website.

I read a lot of information and I kept hearing a theme being repeated over and over.

I also checked out a lot of vendors that help with building successful websites.

I contacted website owners on the subject matter of the type of website I was interested in building and spoke with them. I got various answers and advice from them as well. Some of it was good and others gave me what I believe now to be bad advice. Some of the advice they gave me cost me a bit of money, but that is the way it goes when you are trying to build a business.

The concept I was having trouble with was how can a subject such as good leadership skills make money? It didn't make any sense to me!

Until I began looking at there website more closely! They all seemed for the most part to offer great information, but the key was that all had advertising on them of some kind.

So that was the key! Offer great information and as a side benefit you may be able to place ads on your website that have the possibility of making you commission on any sales.

Think about it! Newspapers and Magazines do it! Television does it! Radio does it! So, why not a website?

A website is no different than any of the others just, smaller for the most part.

Now that is the reason to have a website and how to potentially make money from it.

Next question is how do I get people to visit my site? How do I get people to even find my site? After all there are millions and millions of websites out there on every subject imaginable. Why visit mine?

Good question. Even when you put exceptionally good information on your website, how in the world is anybody going to find it? I didn't have the money to advertise like some big business. Heck, I didn't know the first thing about advertising let alone how to make a website!

Back to the drawing board! Great idea to build a website and how to make money online, but how do I make it happen?

That is when I discovered the secret! It is all about the words you use in each of your web pages. They are referred to as key words, and Google and the other search engines look at them very closely.

Remember Google and the other search engines want to be able to provide the public with the best information possible on the subject they want.

We all have done a search on Google and what do you type in? Either a word or words on a subject you are interested in getting information on. Let's say you are interested in "Short Leadership Stories", so you type that into the Google search box and hit enter.

Then Google will bring up hundreds, if not thousands of potential websites that have "Short Leadership Stories". The closer you are to the top, the more free hits your website will receive. As it turns out my site will come up number one if you type that keyword into Google. As it turns out I do get a lot of free traffic to my website because of it.

Now keep in mind that I have hundreds of pages that I have placed on my site and that is not the only page I get traffic on. I used it as only an example.

So then people come to that page and have the potential for purchasing an item I have placed on that page. If they do, I make a little money. If they don't they may move on to another page and again I have the potential from making a small amount of money from that as well. The more traffic the better the chances of making money from that page or pages.

Now if you like my site you can take my advice. If you don't I would say that you probably would have already moved on to a different site for a better answer to your question of How to Build a Website?

I am sold on two places that I believe are the best in helping you if you are serious about how to make a website.

I have put them both below and yes I would make a small commission if you did purchase something from them. But I would not put them on my site if I didn't believe in both of them.

GoDaddy and Site Build It are both good. I have used both. For this site I have used Site Build It and it walked me through the entire process. They have a one time fee that I like, since some of the others will charge for individual services. That isn't a bad thing either if you know what you want.

I would encourage you to check them out and the bottom line will be that you will become an expert in no time.

Don't fall into the trap of wanting your site online and running in one day and expect a miracle to happen. On average it will take some time, but each month it will grow if you follow their plan. I did and was not sure at first. But everything they told me has pretty much happened, and I am very excited about what they did for me.

Of course everyone can have a different experience, but I an truly satisfied.
