Most Important Aspect of Executive Leadership Training!
As a general rule the greatest benefit of all executive leadership training programs is to include all the entire team at the same time with the aim to connect them in a way that can't take place in another environment. Present is a particular chemistry that occurs once participants are participating in a learning atmosphere that does not materialize during the normal business day. Turn this benefit into a tremendous advantage that will bring about the right kind of change. Taking part in a characteristic executive leadership training program the leaders must be pushed outside their comfort zone to experience new-found methods of doing business, but of further importance they must ascertain how to take advantage of one another’s talents. In place of butting heads with one another the leaders should connect on a level that will develop a higher level of trust. For them to be able to accomplish this, the facilitator must push the participants to their extreme limits way beyond the leader’s comfort zone. Participants are normally inclined to be more honest whenever fear is involved, and that is the challenge for the trainer. Being fearful is a tremendous motivator for drawing out the real person under the mask, and will creating a situation where the people will bond with people they you would not typically think about developing a professional relationship with. When warriors go off to fight in wars they face possible death, and that creates a situation whereby they will become extremely trusting of those around them like no other time. Trust me on this since I spent 12 years in the Marine Corps. Once you must depend upon someone else with your life that is battling next to you, you immediately have respect and a bond that will remain forever inside of the two of you! It will be a huge advantage if you can interject a fearful situation into the executive leadership training program. How to accomplish that is totally dependent on the team you are working with, since everyone is a little different! Interjecting something that will create worry into the executive leadership training program perhaps is something as simple as the budget crises that may mean members of the executive team could lose their jobs! On the other hand you may have them face a fear they have struggled their whole life, such as a fear of insects or high places. Even those with a tough personality begin to break down the barriers immediately when presented with their biggest fears! After this executive leadership team starts to remove the barriers you will witness a dramatic change in the amount they are able to accomplish. That bond that they will have with each other will build a trust unbreakable that was never present in the past. Eliminating those road blocks that were put up in the past will allow the team to form a bond that cannot be destroyed. Instead of competing with each other, it will be replaced with assisting one another. Instilling trust into your executive leadership training program will build the team you have been hoping for and is more important than any of the many new ridiculous programs that are introduced daily into the business environment. All of us can attest to the numerous training programs that we have sat through and within days have forgotten the points they were trying to convey. Some refer to these as the flavor of the week. They all come and go without really helping the true problem and that is the trust issue. Put your executive team into a position that trust is everything and you will see the results. May God Bless You!
