Depression Rehabilitation Centers - Fighting The Demons That Lived Inside Him

Depression rehabilitation centers can work wonders but getting those you care about to understand they need help is sometime the hardest part. Let me explain.

I have a friend who battled depression for many years. He was averse to taking medication, so he battled the problem on his own. There were many times when he could barely get out of bed and function, yet he took things in stride and tried his best to push forward. Everything was fine until he got into a relationship that was far from healthy.

Depression Rehabilitation Centers - despite the fact that he was already in a failing relationship with another woman...

He always had romances that were somewhat questionable, but this one appeared to be doomed from the start. He met a woman on social media through a group and he attached himself to this person rather quickly, despite the fact that he was already in a failing relationship with another woman. Somehow he convinced this new woman to be with him shortly after breaking things off with his existing girl friend.

Things were pretty rough for him since the woman was not attracted to people who were very overweight. Considering the fact that he tipped the scales at over 300 pounds, it seemed odd that they got together in the first place. Despite the verbal cues that he was not attractive to this woman, he continued pursuing the very odd relationship.

Depression Rehabilitation Centers - carried on a relationship with someone else for over a year...

After finally meeting in person, things seemed to go well for a few years. The main problem was the fact that they weren't seeing each other in person very often, In fact, in four years there was only one visit. At some point, this woman cheated on my friend and carried on a relationship with someone else for over a year.

When my friend found out he was devastated. Instead of dealing with his feelings in a healthy way, he decided to take his own life. He took a combination of pills that seemed like the perfect way to put an end to it all. After swallowing this cocktail and washing it down with copious amount of wine, he ended up vomiting. That saved his life for the day, but he tried slicing his wrists the following day and spent the next 4-5 days in a haze of sleeping pills, alcohol and tearful calls to the woman in question.

Depression Rehabilitation Centers - he took so many pills that he was incoherent and he realized he needed some help...

At some point, he took so many pills that he was incoherent and he realized he needed some help. He got on the phone and called the emergency mental health team in the area. They called the ambulance and had him taken to the hospital right away. After talking with someone there, they told him that his best bet would be to check himself into a center for people battling severe depression.

Instead of allowing his grief to continue taking hold of him, he entered a program. He spent 30 days there going to individual counseling sessions, group therapy and performing activities that would help him learn to love himself again. He also met with a psychiatrist who offered him some antidepressants to help him cope. While that may have been helpful, he decided to decline.

Depression Rehabilitation Centers - thanks to his time in the treatment center...

Today he is still battling depression, but in a very successful way. He eats healthy, exercises, writes in his journal daily and sees a clinician weekly. While he is still not over his lost love, he is becoming stronger each and every day, thanks to his time in the treatment center. leadership
